  • PIE!!

    PIE!!

    Can engrave on pie too!

The funnest discovery so far is that one can engrave on pie. Not every pie mind you. Just pies like pumpkin where the top is flat and relatively dry. It can be difficult to not hit the crust with the laser head thus ruining the whole thing, but if you can get it right it looks really cool and is so much fun. It also does not alter the taste in the slightest so that’s a bonus.

  • Denim Engraving

    Denim Engraving

    Can engrave on denim too!

Yet another fun discovery that I didn’t know was possible was the ability to engrave onto denim. It’s a little scary as if you don’t have the fabric very flat and if your settings are off, you could easily put holes in your clothes. But I had an old pair of jeans I cut up to practice on and once I was sure of the settings, I added geekiness to our jean jackets and engraved jackets for my nieces in London. Planning on adding some Firefly/Serenity love to my new denim purse soon.

  • Ceramic Tiles

    Ceramic Tiles

    Can egrave on ceramic too!

Another fun discovery. I got a bunch of really cheap white ceramic tiles from the Habitat for Humanity Restore and went to town. They have to be painted first. Then the black gets engraved off to reveal the white tile underneath. One can use just black or layer different colours under the black for a different effect. I’m not great at it yet and still need to perfect working with the colours and getting settings dialed in. But I want to do much more experimenting.

  • Han & Leia

    Han & Leia

    I love you. I know.

I didn’t buy a pattern for this one. Just created it from scratch. The idea kept growing. At first is was just going to be Han and Leia with the words on a grey background. Then I decided to add a picture of Lego Han in carbonite as a background. I tried to use a printed picture at first but it looked awful and was too prominent. I wanted subtle yet identifiable. So I had to figure out how to engrave it on the wood. Success! But the piece was flat and Han in carbonite is deep. Like a box. Boom! I made it into a box. Had a couple of teeny hinges in a drawer and had to figure that whole thing out. Also, it’s grey so I stained it. There was still something missing. It needed action. I got my hands on Luke and Darth Vader minifigs and added them in battle on the top. There are holes in the back so it can be hung on the wall. I really love the final product and I like that it was my own creation.

  • Potter Houses

    Potter Houses

    What house are you in?

These 7 layer pieces are fun to make. I cut out the layers, painted them, then glued them together to create a lovely piece with nice depth. So far I have only done Hufflepuff but I am planning on doing the rest at some point. There’s also a pattern for Howarts in general. For sale if you want one or all five!

  • Trivets

    Trivets

    Can also engrave on cork!

I had no idea when I got this laser cutter that it was so versatile. I thought yuo just cut out and engrave on wood. End of story. My cutter is on the low end but it’s still pretty great I think. I discovered I could engrave on cork and I immediately had many goofy ideas as you can see below. Let me know if you want one. I can engrave the below or anything your little heart desires. They can be rectangular or round too.

    Dungeon Crawler Carl

    Dammit Donut!

I recently got into this book series after a recommendation from a co-worker. It’s a great read. I saw this pattern on Thingiverse and just had to make it for her. This is Princess Donut riding on Mongo. I’m happy to say that she loved it. 🙂

    Live Long and Prosper

This was the first 3D model I made and now I’m hooked. I love making these. I just wish I had a place to display them all at home. This one is Peter’s office but all the Star Wars one are on display on my filing cabinet at work.

  • Star Wars 3D Models

    Star Wars 3D Models

One of my favourite movie series

I love Star Wars and I love making these. I can now make these fun collectibles at a fraction of price that they would probably cost at a geek market. Scroll the pictures below for all the ones I’ve made so far and check back later as I continue to add to my collection.

  • The Tree

    The Tree

    Resin Hexagons

This is 1 of 7 pieces I created for the new bathrooms we got at work. These are 8 individually cut hexagons and mounted on backing boards. I then fulled the voids with a sky blue resin. I enjoy final effect.
