Something different

I don’t make furniture generally but I wanted to give a present to a co-worker who just had a baby and I wanted it to be something useful. So when I saw this pattern, I figured I’d give it a shot. I always find it challenging when I create a piece that needs to fit together because making things square just sometimes doesn’t work out for the best. I cut this from a hardwood like pine I believe. Then glued and screwed it together for stability. It worked out pretty good. My daughter tests it out below.
