For travel treasures

Made as a gift for a couple that enjoys to travel. I think it’s a great little box to stash away some small treasures they find during their world travels. The box is made from one super thick solid piece of hardwood (I can’t remember what kind). I cut out the centre then cut a 1/4″ thick piece of baltic birch to fit into the middle to create the bottom of the box. Then I flocked the inside of the box with blue flocking which I’d never tried before. It worked out pretty good and created a cozy velvety interior. The lid is also 1/4″ baltic birch with a piece underneath painted black and cut smaller to fit snug into the box. The compass is cut from a lovely piece of 1/4″ red oak hardwood.
